A Serial Killer in the Making

(by Peter)

Ann is totally obsessed over the McDonald’s Monopoly promotion they hold every year.  This year is no different so we’ve been eating at McDonald’s semi-frequently.  Last night we decided to eat at the fine-dining establishment.

After I ordered our food and waited around the counter, a boy, around 13-years old, comes to the register and says:

Boy: “I need a new sandwich”
Girl-at-register: “Oh? What’s wrong with it?”
Boy: “The ketchup isn’t under the cheese”

He was dead serious.  I thought I was obsessive-compulsive but this guy takes it to a whole new level.  She obliged and went to tell the line assemblers about the boy’s request.

Congratulations kid, you’re going to grow up to be a serial killer.

Pumpkin Picking!

(by Ann)

It’s getting close to Halloween!!!!!!!!  My favorite holiday!!!  Costumes, ghosts, demons & best of all CANDY!!!!!

Candy for breakfast, lunch & dinner - Candy until your stomach aches all over.  I love Halloween!

So Peter is a trooper.  He KNOWS how much I love Halloween & he took Lego & I to a huge pumpkin farm to pick our own pumpkins!

So much fun!  I can’t wait to carve them & make yummy pumpkin pie  =D

Not only that, I got to visit Rowan again at the Longmont Humane Society.  If you didn’t know it already, Rowan is a dog I used to work with a lot at The Dog Spot.  Recently, her family had to give her up to the humane society due to baby issues.  =(  Doesn’t make her a bad girl, she’s just very sensitive to her surroundings.  I love this girl to death & I’ve been visiting & checking up on her at the LHS.  It just warms my heart to see them taking such good care of her.  I hope she finds the perfect family for her…she deserves the best.  <3

Btw, that icon of me…what is that?  Totally doesn’t look like me…does it?  o_O

Now I smell homemade meatballs made from beef, turkey & bacon…so hungry…I gotta go eat.  BYE!

First Presidential Debate 2008

(by Peter)

This post is a little late but I want to share my thoughts on the debate that happened last Friday between Barack Obama and John McCain.

I think Barack did great.  He was good and defending his position and he was not afraid to admit where McCain and him share similar beliefs.  He had some awkward moments but he was very inspiring to listen to.

Then there was McCain…  He REALLY gave off the “cranky old guy” vibe.  Not once did he ever look at Obama during the debate to address him.  He got visibly shaken up and irritated at his debating partner.  He never admitted to saying Obama was right about anything even though his answer was clearly of the same message.  Not to mention he said “horseshit” twice during the debate which I think is pretty unacceptable.  Thanks to Jake for pointing it out.

McCain was obviously trying to drive home the fact he has more experience by just throwing out every possible name he could think of for every argument but he had no substance to his arguments.

I was surprised to see Time awarded him a B- even though they rated him at a B-, C-, C+, B- for all their categories.  I think they’re just going easy on him.

I’m voting for Obama all the way.  Everyone I hear say they want to vote McCain usually have money as the sole reason behind that decision.  They say, “Obama will raise taxes” and “Businesses are going to have to pay more”.

Obama is raising taxes for the RICH.  The people that make huge salaries that can afford to pay more.  Does it make sense for a CEO and a secretary to get taxed the same amount?  I sure don’t think so.  If I was in a CEO position, I’d gladly pay more taxes.  People are struggling to make ends meet and the well-to-do refuse to give up one of their 10 cars so the less fortunate can eat and clothe their children?  That’s stupid and that’s why the economy is broken.

Money should not be a determining factor on our future.  Ever.

Guess I kind of went off on a tangent there but that’s what I believe.

Why I don’t like Wal-Mart (among other reasons…)

(by Peter)

Last Sunday was the release day for Rock Band 2.  I love Rock Band so naturally I tried to get it at the stroke of midnight on release day.

Unfortunately, no stores were doing midnight releases so I had to go to my only 24-hour option, Wal-Mart.  I walk into the Wal-Mart on Sheridan around 12:05am and ask one of the stock girls if I could grab a copy of Rock Band 2.

She tells me that lots of people have been asking about it that day and her manager told her it doesn’t come out until October.  Now, no offense, but video game nerds KNOW their release dates.  I asked her one more time if she was sure and she nodded.  A group of fellow nerds heard the conversation and walked over to correct her as well.  She gave into the presssure and said she’d have someone check in the back.

About 5 minutes pass and whoever she had called to go look came to her and said they don’t have it.  WTF?  One of the nerds calls up another Wal-Mart close by and they said they have about 5 copies left.  We all rush over there and sure enough, I was able to get my copy.  The guy that helped us even said “Ya, they probably didn’t even bother looking, I’m sure they have it”.

Aside, from the helpful guy at Wal-Mart, the vast majority of them just don’t really care.  I wish if they had a specialized department, they’d have some competent staff working there.  I understand it was the late night stockers but they could at least check the computers or something instead of just blowing people off.

Ranting aside, Rock Band 2 rocks my socks.

Powerball!

(by Peter)

I’m buying a Powerball ticket tomorrow since the jackpot is about 102 million bucks.  This is just a farewell to everyone since I’ll have to disappear from the face of the earth after I win.

Maybe I’ll buy a dumb state like Delaware and make it into an amusement park.  That’s after I invest the jackpot into the stock market and become of a trillion-air of course.

Everyone’s gotta start somewhere.

OMGWTFBBQ

(by Peter)

I’m a pretty big fan of Brother’s BBQ.  I’ve been going there pretty frequently for the past 2 and a half years.  I usually eat my bbq with their numerous different bbq sauces.  I was totally floored when I found out that the yellow bottle I assumed was mustard all these years was actually another BBQ sauce!

It’s a mustard-based bbq sauce and it’s delicious.  I would go as far as to say it’s my favorite one right now.

Deck Sanding Complete!

(by Peter)

3 weeks ago, we started sanding our deck thinking we’d have it done within the week.  Today, I can say we’re finally done!  Just have washing and staining left to do.  I figure that should take 2 days (read: a million days).  That is all.

Eff you deck….

Projekt Revolution 2008

(by Peter)

During our wedding last May, Ann bought me some cool wedding presents.  I got a sweet iPod dock and she got us tickets for Projekt Revolution this year.  I was totally psyched to go since I could go see one of my top 5 bands, Linkin Park.

August 12th finally rolled around and we both took the day off to go the concert.  It was HOT outside.  Even a 12 dollar frozen margarita wasn’t enough to keep Ann cool.  Konami was there with their new Guitar Hero/Rock Band clone “Rock Revolution”.  It didn’t look all the impressive, I was surprised the framerate wasn’t even steady on a rhythm game.  One of the demos even rebooted the xbox and put some error dumps on the screen.

We made our way over to the “Revolution Stage” and we saw a few of the “other” bands before they began seating at the main area.  “10 Years” was pretty good and we missed out on Atreyu since we joined the mass waiting to get into the main seating area.

“Ashes Divide” wasn’t all that impressive, but I enjoyed “The Bravery” and for some reason “Busta Rhymes” was a no show.  I was kind of curious to see what kinda music Busta is putting out now.  Chris Cornell was awesome and Linkin Park was epic.  Especially when Chris Cornell came out and started singing “Crawling” during Linkin Park’s performance.

Pictures coming up in the gallery soon!

Mother nature hates us.

(by Peter)

Our deck was in pretty bad shape when we first moved in.  Our house was originally a rental so the tenants never maintained the deck and a few of the renters had dogs that just chewed and scratched the crap out of the wood and sealant.

After a year, we finally got around to restoring our deck.  We got the sander ready, our counter-sink in hand, stain and brushes, and all sort of other goodies.  Today, we started working on our deck.

I started counter-sinking the nails and Ann started sanding the old cruddy paint off.  After an hour or so and discovering how beautiful the wood actually was underneath all the filth, *boom*.

We hear thunder in the distance and sure enough the black clouds were rolling in on us.  Ann stopped sanding and covered the deck with garbage bags while I continued to sink as many nails I could before it started pouring.

We had to stop after another 15 minutes and come in.  We didn’t get much done as I wanted to.  Not even close.  But I guess that’s what’s in the cards for us.  I’m hoping we finish all the prep by tomorrow night and start applying stain Tuesday and but I highly doubt that’s gonna happen.

Wednesday’s our only open timeframe where it isn’t above 90 degrees and raining in order to get the stain to dry appropriately.

Le sigh…

Poopy Face

(by Ann)

SoOoOoOooOooooo Fustrating yesterday at work..

So…I head into work at 5:30 in the morning to find out my lovely pups pooped in their kennels.  Not only that, they took the liberty to stomp all over it & get it ALL over the place…on their beds & all over the walls & tops of their kennels…  It’s not the first time I’ve dealt with that, but still, it’s never fun to come into work at 5:30 in the morning to the smell of poop smeared all over the place.  =(  Reluctantly, I let all my pups out of their kennels for their morning potty break.  I guess one of the pups was so excited to see me, right as i opened the door of her kennel, she ran up & jumped up all over me….with her poop smeared paws….soooo lovely…..I love the girl, but….EwwWwWwwW!!!!  She got poop all over my shirt & somehow in that split second was about to get it all over the side of my face & neck…sooo gross……

at least I was all alone in the morning & I was able to clean up before anyone got there.  I just took one of Dog Spot shirts for sale & wore that instead.  The tone for the rest of the day didn’t get better either…oh well…TGIF right?
