So yesterday Ann and I both got a letter from Wells Fargo saying that our credit application was approved conditionally depending on some documents we provide them.
It looked legit since it had Wells Fargo logo on the letterhead with reference numbers and all that good stuff. They even got Ann’s recent name change right. What didn’t look legit was what they were asking for and the small fact that we never applied for any credit with them!
They wanted a copy of my utility bill, pay stub, and last year’s W-2. WTF? SRSLY? Nuh uh…
I called up Wells Fargo credit and they said they would never ask for this kind of information. They filed a fraud report for me and I ain’t sending anything to these scammers. Makes you kind of wonder though… they have some serious access into some sensitive data.
I hope that it’s a phishing scam and not someone trying to apply for credit under my name. Why don’t these people get a job and work hard like the rest of us instead of trying to turn a quick buck while trampling on other people?

So the Mrs. and I decided to go do a little aimless driving exploration for dinner. We ended up eating at a fun Japanese restaurant where they have sake carafes for ONE DOLLAR.
After we finished dinner, I started heading to Federal St. on 72 Ave. When I got to the intersection, I waited at the red light like a good citizen should. I notice a guy standing at the corner start to run over to the El Camino stopped next to me. He started talking to the driver from the passenger side window.
He went back to the corner and didn’t think anything of it since they both seemed to be smiling. All of a sudden, the mullet-toting driver gets out of his car and heads over to the smiling dude standing at the corner. It looks harmless and like a regular chat and then…. WHAM!
The mullet-man took a huge swing at the dude and the poor guy’s sunglasses went flying off. For some reason he was still smiling and giggling, I can only assume he was drunk or high. The light turned green for me so I left and didn’t get to watch more pain brought forth from super mullet-man.

I finally got all the papers together & started changing everything to my new name! Today is my first day officially as Ann Ko!!! woohooo!!!l
PLUS! even more amazing?!?!
So…I thought I was being all sly…Peter said he’s had a rough couple of days at work (big project due Wednesday) and so I thought…I’m gonna surprise him by framing his smoking kitties in the bathroom poster (no words can describe it’s class) & bringing him a flower before he got home from work.
So…to my surprise…he was already home when I got home….PLUS, when I walked in the door, he had a HUGE bouquet of flowers sitting on the kitchen counter! O_O
I got pwned – in a good way =)
I guess you can say, we think alike?~ <3

So it’s probably no surprise to people how much I enjoy the company I work for now. Sure the technology is new and exciting and it’s just a generally cool atmosphere, but what really rocks is the people.
Tomorrow we’re breaking in the new office HDTV with movie night at the office. We’re gonna fire up the grill on the roof and drink bourbon while watching “Blazing Saddles”. Ann’s trying to get into the whole western theme and make some kinda western dish to bring. I think she’s leaning towards her peach clobbler recipe (Yes, I spelled it clobbler cuz it’s awesome).
I hope tomorrow is a horrible day at work so I have more reason to drink

So after letting multiple chains at Darkstar LLC that I would not pay them money in order to cancel my account, they decided it was best to insult me and continue to screw me over.
I hope any of you people considering their service see this before you make the leap. They have a shady business practice and they know it.

So things were escalated to the “owner” of Darkstar LLC. And they STILL want me to pay money to cancel my account. I think it’s time to get the BBB involved…

So I’ve been using DarkStar LLC’s Ventrilo service for a couple years now. I no longer had a need for it and couldn’t find a place to cancel on my “Control Panel” so I just erased my billing information.
Invoice time rolls around and payments are rejected and my account is suspended. Okay good, that was expected. I notice at the bottom of my failed payment email stating I could contact “support@darkstarllc.com” to cancel my account. I send an email there and to my surprise, it’s replied by an automated mailer that says, “Thank you for contacting DarkStar Communications, if you are receiving this e-mail message this is because you have contacted us through a method which is not actively monitored by our staff.”.
WTF? Your email just said I could cancel through that address? I leave it for another month because I found that ridiculously stupid. I keep getting failed invoice emails and got tired of it so I send them another email to that email address. This time, I get a different auto-response pointing me to a http://support.darkstarllc.com which I never knew existed.
I send in a cancellation request there and figure things would be all good, I was wrong.
Take a look at the following transcript… Turns out I have to pay money to cancel my account, that’s some bogus business practices. Unfortunately, you have to read from the bottom-up.

Now I’m just waiting to hear back from them, I suspect they’re going to try some other tactics to extort money from me.

I’m a pretty huge Metal Gear fan. So with the release of Metal Gear Solid 4 about a week away, I’m getting totally stoked!
If any of you are planning on buying MGS4 or are a big MGS nut like me, you might enjoy this retrospective special.
Metal Gear Solid Retrospective
I’m so tempted to play through all of them before the new one comes out but I just don’t have that kind of time anymore

rock climbing
(by Peter)
It’s been about a month since we’ve last went rock climbing, maybe even a little longer than that. I was pretty excited to go back again after our long hiatus. Too bad the place was PACKED. This has been a reoccurring theme since the past 6 months or so but I figured it would die down as the weather got warmer (the hardcore people start climbing outside). But it hasn’t changed at all!
We decided to just leave since we probably wouldn’t get a lead rope for at least an hour and there weren’t many good routes without a line. We still have about 2 months of membership left at the Boulder Rock Club and I think we may not renew.
There’s a new rock gym that opened up pretty close to home so we might check that place out. If they have some decent walls and it isn’t a mosh pit of people, we might consider picking up a membership there instead.
